Alastor's shadow abandoned the plan, hastily catching Angel before he crashed to the ground. That plus the sound of that whine made Alastor's eyes snap open, the soundwaves immediately ceasing. His face went sheet white in horror as the smile sat frozen on his face.

"I'm so sorry!" he blurted out. "I didn't realize -- ! I'd never take liberties -- !"

Like a skittish deer, Alastor hastily put distance between himself and Angel even though it didn't really matter: His powers could clearly allow him to violate the spider without ever touching him. In ninety years of existence, he'd never even considered the possibility.

What he'd just done...He ate people who did that sort of thing for breakfast. Often times quite literally.
