It was a good thing Angel hadn't reminded Alastor of everything that had come in contact with his fur. As it was, that jacket was going to be sent through the wash a few times. The reminder would've had him burning it.
Angel wasn't decent, but it'd have to do. As it was, he offered Angel an arm before leading the way out. He paused as he came in line with Vox who was staring, frozen, at Valentino.
"You let something like that hold you back when you used to be so much more. Shame," Alastor said, planting little seeds into the cracks of Vox and Valentino's relationship. Once they grew, they'd widen the gaps, eventually breaking apart two of the V's.
"Once he's healed, Val's gonna come for you and your territory."
"What territory?"
Vox buzzed in confusion. "The hotel."
The Radio Demon laughed. "The hotel is Charlie's territory, not mine. The people in it are my toys, so I choose to protect it and them. She lets me stay. Still, if Valentino wishes to anger the princess of Hell herself and face down both her and me at once, by all means. Let him do something so stupid."
With that, Alastor resumed walking. He led Angel out of the club to where a car had pulled up to the curb. The door opened of its own volition. The Radio Demon's eyes narrowed in his version of a grimace before guiding Angel inside and getting in, shutting the door behind them.
There was no driver, just a face on the center console's screen. "Got your destination lined up: The Happy Hotel! Be there soon!"
And with that, the car took off. Alastor sighed, gripping the edge of the seat tightly. He'd never liked automobiles.
When Alastor offered him his arm he reached out to take it, holding the demon close as if he was prepared to be suddenly ripped away. Angel stood in silence as the two overlords spoke. At the mention of the Happy Hotel, Angel flinched. No, Alastor was right. No one would be foolish to try to take on Lucifer's daughter, right? Valentino wasn't take stupid. And yet... Angel wordlessly cast a wary glance at Vox as their pair of them exited the club.
Alastor, always a gentleman, helped him inside the waiting car and he scooted to the far side of the backseat. It was a bit strange, Angel's behavior. You might expect him to use Aastor's daring rescue as an excuse to fawn over him. Instead he was uncharacteristically quiet as he stared out the window, gripping on to his arms in tight fists. After what seemed like an eternity Angel spoke.
"Why did you come for me? And don't feed me that bullshit line about how I'm your toy." His tone has a bit harsh for someone who was just pulled from the fire.
"My dear, I think it'd be best if we held all conversation until we return to the hotel," Alastor said bluntly, looking blatantly at the face on the screen.
Who knew if they were being recorded? And right now neither of them could afford looking weak.
Besides, right now Alastor was regretting that heart he'd eaten not too long ago. Supreme Creator and His loa, he hated cars. He always felt queasy in them.
"Fine." Angel ground out, returning to quietly staring out the car window.
Damn, he was really starting to feel that pleasant buzz that numbed his pain tearing away leaving behind raw nerves. The reality of their situation dug deep into him and he stewed in his ugly emotion soup. Angel bit down hard on his bottom lip fighting off the anxiety attack he felt clinching at his chest. It was getting hard to breathe and the already tiny car felt like it was shrinking.
It felt like a lifetime before their taxi pulled up the drive to the Happy Hotel. The taxi barely came to a stop when Angel charged out of it, slamming the door behind him without waiting for Alastor. Not bothering to look back to see of the deer was following, Angel marched up the sidewalk to the front doors. Angel knew he should be thankful but he wasn't. He was angry. He was hurt.
Angel didn't even pause to acknowledge Charlie as he stormed through the entrance hall. He was on the war path heading straight towards his room. He just wanted to escape again. As fast as his long legs could carry him he made it to his door and flung himself inside. The lock clicked behind him and he pressed his back against the cold wood. In his gut he knew that he wouldn't be alone for much longer.
Angel glance down at the stylish red jacket he was wearing and tugged at the collar. Why didn't he realize sooner that it smelt like him. Something about it was relaxing, reassuring... Fuck, Angel immediately hated himself for thinking that. He was mad at him right now. Angel fidgets in his spot when a flash of green distracted him. The money.
The memory of all those hands on his body came rushing back to flood him with shame and disgust. God, he must have looked the fool shaking his ass. Gritting his teeth he reached down to start tearing free the dirty money from his skirt and garters as if it burned his skin, tossing it carelessly to the floor. When the last bill fell the spider let's out a pitiful scream, sinking to the floor to bury his face in his hands.
Alastor paused outside of Angel's door at the scream. He glanced at his shadow who offered a helpless shrug before it darted inside to take in the situation.
The shadow flew over to Angel, knowing its master was watching and listening through its senses. It knelt down before Angel, reaching out to place a hand on top of the spider's head. Icy fingers ran through Angel's hair as the shadow offered what little comfort it could.
Alastor himself waited for a few minutes more before he teleported into the shadow's place, still holding his hand on Angel's head. He didn't say anything, merely allowing the quiet hiss of radio silence fill the room.
Angel had wanted to say something in the car but Alastor had cut him off. Now they were both safe to speak their minds without Vox or Valentino or whoever using it against them.
The appearance of the Shadow was actually a welcomed one. Angel didn't mind his presence and he found himself leaning into the cool inky touch. No longer under the effects of the drugs Val forced on him, the cold hand felt like an ice pack on his throbing head. But when the icy chill grew warm Angel flinched away. The master had arrived.
Fucking great. This is the second time Alastor witnessed him crying. Just kill him now. Would solve so many problems. Biting back his venom, Angel shrugged off Alastor's hand.
"Just stop it. Stop pretending that you care. I don't need or want your pity."

Alastor calmly got out of the car, striding into the hotel after Angel. If anyone asked, well, the spider still had his jacket.
He didn't say anything, just letting Angel have his little fit. Likely the drugs leaving his system.
He only stopped when Charlie appeared, looking quite confused and distressed. She moved to follow Angel but Alastor held up a hand.
"Let me handle it," Alastor told her. "If he yells at me, there's no risk of me taking it personally."
"If you're sure..." she murmured, looking worriedly towards Angel.
Alastor patted the princess of Hell on the head. "I am. Besides, he'll feel less guilty when he comes down if it's me he's tearing into."
With that, Alastor resumed following Angel.
